Psychodynamic psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and adults

I am a clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience in providing mental health support for children, adolescents, and adults struggling with emotional distress. The process of existing as a human being frequently involves painful internal states, including overwhelming fears, loss, doubt, shame, resentment, guilt, hopelessness, and uncertainty, among many others. These potentially destabilizing internal states can be further complicated by more externally-based problems, such as marital or other relational upheavals, occupational difficulties or setbacks, traumatic events, and family discord.

Repetitive patterns –behaviorally, emotionally, or both– can create blockages which prevent us from moving forward. Despair and anxiety can set in as the patterns persist. Emotionally-based difficulties that don’t go away can negatively impact us in all areas of our lives, including effectiveness at our jobs, parenting abilities, social engagement, energy levels, and one’s overall sense of well-being in the world. It is at these times in our lives when psychotherapy can be, for some, a source of welcome assistance and relief, and for others, life saving.
